Step down progressions for healthier knees
This video demonstrates progressions of a step down exercise, commonly used in physical therapy programs for knee pain or injury.
Almost everyone has heard to 'never let their knees travel past their toes' in fear of doing them harm. At first take this claim seems perfectly logical. We can honestly say that in the past, we too believed in this paradigm.
However, just look at a lateral view of an individual walking down stairs and you will quickly see that this old, overprotective concept is silly. It would be nearly impossible to function adhering to this rule. Additionally, most sports would certainly be less dynamic and exciting (and full of more injury), if the old thinking were to hold true.
